Stakeholder feedback is vital to our Distributed Future Energy Scenario (DFES) plans. Understanding the future needs of local communities, districts and regions is critical to planning the safe, clean and affordable network of the future.
This summer, we worked with Regen to invite local authority and industrial cluster stakeholders to a streamlined, focused engagement process to help us refine our DFES 2025 plans, building on extensive engagements held in 2024. This work is also being shared with NESO as part of their transitional Regional Energy Strategic Plan work.
Their responses have just been published and, thanks to our stakeholders’ input, we have been able to:
- Update new housing data (in reference to UK government housing targets);
- Gather views on the DFES 2024 scenario projections that best align with local energy planning, and include any recently published Local Area Energy Plans;
- Share information about our DFES process and methodology;
- Refine our regional assumptions around industrial decarbonisation and electrification.
“Over 90% of our local government authority stakeholders have now been involved since we started this work and our engagement with industrial clusters in our area continues to improve as well,” commented Emily Taylor, Regional Decarbonisation Manager for National Grid DSO.
“This gives us a huge amount of really rich, locally relevant information that we use to plan the energy network of the future. I’d like to thank everyone who took part, as well as recognise the huge contribution from the Regen Team and our Strategic Engagement Officers in continually moving us towards a more affordable, cleaner energy future.”
