Become a provider

We want to ensure that participation in our Flexibility markets is as straightforward and accessible as possible and we are proud to try new approaches and listen to feedback to make that happen for flexibility providers.

To make the journey to participation as easy to understand as possible, we have outlined four main steps.

The process

Step 1: Commercial Qualification

To start off, any potential providers of flexibility will need to sign up to our Market Gateway platform, here you will register your orginisation and progress through the required contract stages.

Step 2: Technical Qualification

Next you will register your assets, which we will check and approve. Once assets are approved and qualified, then you can then enter open Trades.

Step 3: Trades

We procure flexibility through a competitive process, which means that we highlight specific zones on our network that need flexibility, we then publish how much flexibility we need along with a ceiling price of potential earnings vary from zone to zone and from High Voltage to Low Voltage. Potential providers can then trade flexibility in those zones in exchange for a financial reward. The process is competitive, and multiple flexibility providers may want to deliver flexibility in the same zones, so we compile all the offers from providers and use a clearing system (which utilises best market prices) to decide who we will utilise in zones to deliver the required flexibility.

Step 4: Delivering Services

If you are successful in the competitive Trade step of the process then you will be notified and issued a Trade Award. You will then deliver flexibility as per your Trade Award, which outlines the capacity you have agreed to provide in a zone, along with the awarded price you will be paid for delivery.
