National Grid’s Distribution System Operator (DSO) has launched a new interactive tool that allows stakeholders to explore flexibility activities and tender outcomes in detail.

The newly launched FlexPortal enables stakeholders to easily access flexibility data, dispatch patterns as well as the outcome of the DSO’s largest long‑term flexibility tender to date, providing greater transparency ahead of delivery from April 2026.

The new tool transforms the traditional static report into a dynamic, data‑rich experience, enabling users to explore dispatch, participation, and tender outcomes visually and interactively.

Commenting on the launch, Doerte Schneemann, Head of Flexibility Markets, said:

“We’re thrilled to launch this new interactive tool, which allows stakeholders to explore our flexibility data in a much more intuitive and engaging way. We’ve worked closely with our partners Squid to bring the data to life and unlock greater value from our market data for our stakeholders.

“This is just the start. Over the coming months, we’re looking to include even more data to deepen the insights available and make the platform an even more valuable resource for market participants.”

Squid is an AI‑powered platform that enables network planning and operations teams to collaborate through a single, shared model. This approach supports faster, clearer, and more consistent decision‑making.

Conor Jones, co–founder and CEO at Squid, said:

“We’re really excited to be working with National Grid DSO to help turn complex grid datasets into something stakeholders can genuinely explore and reuse - today’s release is the first step, and we’ll keep iterating as more datasets are brought into the platform.”

Alongside the tool, the DSO has also published its latest Flexibility Market Insights report. Covering April to September 2025, the data highlights continued growth in flexibility, with 1.1 GWh dispatched across more than 6,400 events, all delivered using 100% low‑carbon technologies.

A key highlight from the period was the successful trial of the DSO’s first Demand Turn-Up (DTU) product dispatching 498 MWh across 3,800 events over the summer period. The trial clearly demonstrated how effective DTU services can be in matching demand with periods of renewable generation and led National Grid DSO to launch DTU at scale in their latest long-term tender.
